Confetti Motif, Project Green Studio, and more! Using anything BUT a ruler for these pieces!

Confetti Series and Pallet Knife Work

There’s a certain kind of freedom that comes when you throw down your paintbrush and pick up a knife. The paintings you see here were all created using oil paint, cold wax, and a pallet knife.

Layers, all over patterns, careful spacing, and freedom of movement are all attributes I strive for with these paintings.

Extra Paint Series for Project Green Studio

“Extra Paint from the Chateau” 2023, oil on linen on panel

This mini series of work started in 2019 as a goal to have a zero waste studio practice. One of the things I was trying to eliminate was throwing away extra oil paint at the end of each project.

The solution was to have one canvas that was dedicated just to the extra colors I had on hand at any given time.

Each painting in this series starts with no direction except for the colors I have on my palette. The next painting is started when the current piece feels good to look at.

At the end of the day I’m no longer throwing away any paint, and get some really funky paintings in exchange!
